Before and After Touchup
Jul 3rd

These are the before and after shots of my Kirituhi tattoo on my forearm. Kneill from Paradise Tattoo did a fantastic job of sorting it out for me. I needed the touchup due to a couple of reasons. Firstly there was a problem during the inking, I don’t think the kit was on the right setting for some of it. Secondly I left my new tattoo out in the sun for way too long before it healed. This made it fade quickly, which was very noticable. You would think after 8 tattoo’s I would have known how to look after them… I do now!
More Kirituhi Tattoo Design Ideas
May 21st
Its been a year since I first posted about searching for Kirituhi (Maori inspired skin art) Tattoo designs, since then I have had my lower left arm sleeve tattoo’d and more recently touched up to correct a few problems. My blog has received so many new visitors, mainly people looking for Kirituhi tattoo designs on Google. It seems it is a very popular style of tattoo, and for some reason my site, or mainly my first post, rates well in Google and other image search engines.
I always keep my eyes open for designs that inspire me, as I want to continue my Kirituhi design up my arm and onto my shoulder and chest. In my search I found a blog with the image to the left: http://andymatic.vox.com/library/photo/6a00c225203d4b8fdb00f48ce85e790003.html
What I really like about it is the way it spirals up into the shoulder, this is what I would like with mine. My only problem is that I currently have an Ohm tattoo on my chest, and a tribal tattoo on my shoulder that I really like. I am going to have a chat with Tony Unwin, the tattooist who did my Kirituhi sleeve, and see if he can come up with a design for me.
In the mean time I will keep looking, and keep getting inspired. If anyone fancies leaving links to other sites that feature some great inspiring Kirituhi tattoo designs, please do!
Glade Festival 2010 has been cancelled
May 11th
Sadly the guys behind Glade has had to cancel this years festival, stating that rising costs to police it and increased legal fees have made the festival not economical to put on.
You can read the official statement here.
As you can imagine I am gutted, having worked with Glade for the last 6 years providing sound and light for various stages, its the high light of my year.
Not much more I can say about how gutted I am, its really not fair, but thats life!
DMX Address Calculator/Dipswitch Tool
Apr 21st
Several years ago DiscoPete created an app for my first Windows Mobile phone that helped me set the DMX address on my lights. He always found it funny how I got it wrong all the time when trying to do it manually.
Since then I have changed phones several times and no longer have the handy app. I have been resorting to using the calculator instead, which isn’t always the speedy way to get the job done. I have wanted an app for my Nokia 5800 for sometime, and decided it was time I sorted it out.
I came across this during my research: http://business.virgin.net/tom.baldwin/dmx_calculator2.html and have based much of the code for mine on it. The main problem with the above is that its not very mobile friendly, entering the number take a while as you need to go into the keyboard, I needed a touch screen friendly input. My solution was to have arrows above and below each digit which increases or decreases its value.
This is my solution: http://www.dooza.tv/dmx/, and still has more work to be done, but for version 0.1 I am happy with the way it works.
Future versions will have the dip switches toggle, allowing you to work out the address of a light. I will also make the dip switch reversible, as many lights are the other way around.
One really handy feature of DiscoPete’s app was that it turned on the LED flash light of the camera. This helped you see the dip switch when up a ladder in a dark club. I know I can do this with my Nokia 5800, as I already have an app that does this, I just need to work it out.
Download it (166 downloads) for your Nokia Symbian S60 based phone. I would love to hear what you think, please post a comment below.
Wycombe INK Opens in High Wycombe
Apr 11th
An off shoot of Paradise Tattoo has opened its doors in High Wycombe, its called Wycombe INK. The shop is next door to Paradise Tattoo on Castle Street, and has been furnished really nicely.
Si Smith from Paradise Tattoo has new tattooists Joe Worrall and Casi Williams working in the new shop. You can see their work on the Facebook group. I am sure they will have their own website soon, but in the mean time if you want to call them use 07866 743433.
