This year I had my good friend Neil ride with me, this made all the difference, as he likes to push himself to his limits on everything that he does. This meant I had to push myself even harder than last year.
I was really happy with this years ride, firstly we had the 6am start, so there was a lot less riders on the road, but I was also in much better shape, having done lots of riding in the months leading up to this.
We managed to finish the 54 mile ride in 6 hours, which included some breaks for food and drink. I didn’t stop and push once, not even for Ditchling Beacon, the big hill at the end. I now feel like I have properly completed the challenge, something I didn’t actually plan on doing, as I had already decided I wasn’t going to be able to do it. It wasn’t until I was at the bottom that I decided to give it a try and see how far I could go. It was hard going, but my will power won and I made it to the top.
Between Neil and myself we raised almost £400, so thank you to everyone who donated, its going to a great cause. If anyone else wants to donate you still can: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/dooza/
