Glade Is Back!!!

Finally some news about the future of the Glade Festival! They are going back to their roots, with a smaller festival at a new site. There is very little information at the moment, but it was tweeted earlier today and the Facebook page has this accouncement:

GLADE FESTIVAL… IS BACK… we are so excited to tell you.. WE – ARE – BACK…. 10,11,12th June… 1.5 hours from LONDON – in English idyllic parkland!!!… SMALLER, BACK TO ITS ROOTS…. Earlybirds on sale 25th January 2011, make sure you join the mailing list for updates… SEE YOU THERE xx

When I hear more news I will post it here. I am really hoping that my lighting services will still be needed, it would be a shame not to be involved again, the first 6 years were amazing, and I really want to play with my new toys!

Glade Festival 2010 has been cancelled

Sadly the guys behind Glade has had to cancel this years festival, stating that rising costs to police it and increased legal fees have made the festival not economical to put on.

You can read the official statement here.

As you can imagine I am gutted, having worked with Glade for the last 6 years providing sound and light for various stages, its the high light of my year.

Not much more I can say about how gutted I am, its really not fair, but thats life!

Glade Festival 2010 Line-up

The full line-up is now available from the Glade Festival website. Highlights this year include Orbital and Tricky on the Glade Stage, and Jeff Mills on the Vapour Stage.

You can also find Krafty Kuts and Adam F on the Boomtown Stage.

The line-up is huge, so many acts, so many stages, its going to be huge, again!

Glade Festival 2010

Now in its 7th year, Glade Festival is growing and growing. Its on this year from 15th to 18th July and is once again at the Matterley Bowl near Winchester. There is loads of information about the festival on their new website.

We (Fushion Sound System) will be there, hopefully doing the same as last year, and maybe more. Last year we did the Origin Stage (lighting) and the Interstella Circus tent (sound and lighting). I worked in the Circus tent and enjoyed the cabaret acts as well as the live music. I also provided some lights to the Psymusic tent, hopefully this year it will be bigger and need a fully managed lighting solution.

As soon as I know more information I will post about it, in the mean time check out the photos from last year.

Glade Festival 2009 Review and Photos

Glade has found a great new home at Matterly Bowl, Winchester. Whilst it felt smaller, it worked really well. You could probably fit another 2 or 3 thousand people in comfortably.

We have a very smooth setup, and apart from a few technical glitches during live acts, everything went smoothly, and everyone had a great time.

I ran out of memory in my camera, and couldn’t be bothered to delete photos, so didn’t take anywhere near as many photos as I have done in the past. Here is a gallery page http://www.dooza.tv/photos/glade-festival-2009

The 2 hours of caberet in the Interstalla Circus Tent was simply amazing. Its amazing what people can do with practice. The aerial stuff was breathtaking, I have never been so close to this before.

My highlight was The Correspondents, a combination of MC and DJ, playing a fusion of 30′s swing and 00′s big beat and drum and bass. I first saw them at the Till The Cows Come Home 2008, and as soon as I got home I downloaded the EP. Check out there MySpace page, it has clips, you really need to, its like nothing you have heard or seen before. http://www.myspace.com/thecorrespondentsmusic

Mr Bruce, the MC in the Correspondents, was really professional, and really nice. He came to me early on in the night to give me his radio mic receiver. Just before he was due on we did a sound check and then he got on and did his stuff. Top marks and massive respect to him and Mr Chuckles the DJ.

Another favourite act of mine was the Pantaloonies. A duo hula hoop act which was really amusing as well as technically brilliant. Check out there website for more info: http://tillytwist.co.uk/

So all in all another brilliant festival, packed full of happy festival people all having a good time. I honestly can’t wait for next year to arrive!
